Activity by Audrey
An activity idea that I could use would be to have the kids research on computers in small groups. Using powerpoint they could make a presentation and become the teachers of the class. Each group would share the information found with the rest of the class and spark more discussion.

materials used
FOR CONTINENT RESEARCH AND ACTIVITY
-30 computers with internet access
-Interactive Smart Board

activity
An activity I could do with my lesson involving the seven continents would definitely involve the use of the smart board. I think we could play a game by putting up one of the continents on the white board and then having to think of important facts about that continent. I think it could be really fun and a great way for the students to express what they've learned about the seven continents.
Activity Idea
An activity idea that I could use with my lesson plan is to have them print out the information that they found about seasons on the internet and in groups make a poster to show how the seasons change and the properties of each. They would need to be creative and have correct information. Afterwards they would present to the rest of the class.

Kristin Burke's Preliminary Lesson Plan Template
Target Audience of the Lesson:
This lesson plan is designed for a fourth grade science class.
Big Idea of Lesson:
The main concepts of this lesson plan are to teach the children about pollution and its effect on the environment, and to make them aware of the various environmental issues cultures are dealing with today. This lesson is also designed to help familiarize students with using the internet as a search engine and for virtual tours.
Overall Goal for the Lesson:
Upon completion of this lesson, students should have an understanding of the various ways humans pollute the world, and what can be done to prevent this pollution. Students should also become more familiar with using the internet to search for information. Students should also understand the basic concepts for taking a virtual tour.
Indiana Content Standards:
Standard 1: Nature of Science and Technology
4.1.7 Discuss and give examples of how technology, such as computers and medicines, has improved the lives of many people, although the benefits are not equally available to all.
4.1.3 Explain that clear communication is an essential part of doing science since it enables scientists to inform others about their work, to expose their ideas to evaluation by other scientists, and to allow scientists to stay informed about scientific discoveries around the world.
4.1.8 Explain how some products and materials are easier to recycle than others.
Standard 2: Scientific Thinking
4.2.6 Support statements with facts found in print and electronic media, identify the sources used, and expect others to do the same.
ISTE CNETS Student Standards Addressed:
1. Basic operations and concepts:
-Students demonstrate a sound understanding of the nature and operation of technology systems.
-Students are proficient in the use of technology.
2. Social, ethical, and human issues:
-Students practice responsible use of technology systems, information, and software.
-Students develop positive attitudes toward technology uses that support lifelong learning, collaboration, personal pursuits, and productivity.
3. Technology productivity tools
-Students use technology tools to enhance learning, increase productivity, and promote creativity.
5. Technology research tools
-Students use technology to locate, evaluate, and collect information from a variety of sources.

Lesson Plan Template by Audrey Farrand
Target Audience of the Lesson:
Second Graders -average size class
Big Idea of the Lesson:
Have them research the interent about wind, observe it outside, discuss as a class, and have a live web cam discussion with a meteorologist.
Overall Goal for the Lesson:
To have the students understand the speed, movement, and directions of wind. Also to have students explore it by researching, discussing and talking to an actualy weather man. Hopefully discussions will also lead to what kind of technology meaasures the wind, etc.
Indiana Content Standards Addressed - Science - Second Grade - Standard 3:
2.3.1 Investigate by observing and then describe that some events in nature have a repeating pattern such as seasons, day and night, and migrations. (Copy and paste entire standard from http://www.indianastandards.org/)
ISTE CNETS Student Standards Addressed (Copy and paste from http://cnets.iste.org/students/)
Technology research tools
Students use technology to locate, evaluate, and collect information from a variety of sources.
Students use technology tools to process data and report results.
Students evaluate and select new information resources and technological innovations based on the appropriateness for specific tasks.
Technology productivity tools
Students use technology tools to enhance learning, increase productivity, and promote creativity.
Students use productivity tools to collaborate in constructing technology-enhanced models, prepare publications, and produce other creative works.
Technology Foundation Standards for Students

W301 Lesson Plan Template
Target Audience of the Lesson:
Second or Third Graders
Big Idea of the Lesson:
To have them work on the computer to do research about the different seasons so they can work in groups and make a small poster in class about one season and then share with the rest of the class the information they each found.
Overall Goal for the Lesson:
To have the whole class understand the rotation of the seasons and what occurs during each. Also have them know when the seasons change.

I would like to use the synchronEyes when teaching math lessons or history lessons on the computer so they could play a game or do research and I would be able to watch them to make sure they are staying on task and to see if they need help in searching or figuring out a problem.
I would also like to use the Interactive Whiteboard. I think this is something that can be used in every subject and it would get the kids involved and they would enjoy using it.
I would also like to use the remote controls when doing any lesson because it would be easy to see who can/wants to answer the problem and also it would be easy to tell once everyone has an idea for an answer

Hello!
I think I would really enjoy using the interactive white board for all subjects. I would use it so kids could do math problems on the board and have fun, and social studies we could explore a map of the world! I really think the interactive white board is a must have for the classroom!!!!!! :)

Lesson Ideas By Kristin Burke
As I am teaching math and science in the second grade this semester I would like to integrate technology into my lessons in a few of the following ways:
1. Teach a lesson on clouds, have students do a simple internet search on different types of clouds, collect a whole class weather database over a few weeks, and perhaps publish our findings in an online blog similar to this one.
2. In learning about money I think it would be very beneficial to find a computer simulation of money exchange or some sort of money game where the students have to hone their money knowledge in order to succeed in the game!
3. I would also like to teach a lesson on polution and our natural environment. Again, I could see benefit in having my students perform a simple internet search for facts about polutions. The whole class could also take a virtual tour around the world to observe environmental conditions in different cultures!!

Lesson plan ideas by Audrey Farrand
I guess we're supposed to post our ideas and stuff.
Right now we're teaching math and science in our clusters. I assume it would be easiest to make a lesson plan throughmath and science.
-I would try to integrate remote controls so all the kids could answer questions by pressing a button on their control. This way we'd have all the answers on the board and we could make a graph showing the classes data.
-It would be cool to use the white board thing in math so that they could visualize what they were doing and perhaps move it on the screen.
-Perhaps if I was at a school with computers, I would have my class have a science inquiry discussion with some pen pals in another class from a different school or state. They could talk through an online messaging or voice system.
I really don't know what else.
Audrey!
