Lesson Ideas By Kristin Burke

As I am teaching math and science in the second grade this semester I would like to integrate technology into my lessons in a few of the following ways:

1. Teach a lesson on clouds, have students do a simple internet search on different types of clouds, collect a whole class weather database over a few weeks, and perhaps publish our findings in an online blog similar to this one.
2. In learning about money I think it would be very beneficial to find a computer simulation of money exchange or some sort of money game where the students have to hone their money knowledge in order to succeed in the game!
3. I would also like to teach a lesson on polution and our natural environment. Again, I could see benefit in having my students perform a simple internet search for facts about polutions. The whole class could also take a virtual tour around the world to observe environmental conditions in different cultures!!

The cloud project is very interesting! As to the 'weather database,' are you going to have kids observe clouds outside ? Maybe they could take pictures too and then keep journals on the blog everyday.

Environmental conditions in different cultures will be an interesting class too! Well done, Kristin! :)
